I know that all things must end and they will
And no one really has “a little more time to kill”
A sudden passing always comes as a shock
And once again it’s shaken Southern Rock
For three decades now God’s band has grown
It’s even greater now that Billy has flown
He’s gone to join those Freebirds up there
So let’s all say goodbye with a prayer
A goodbye with a prayer means much more
A greeting there at heaven’s golden door
A tinkling of the ivories now joins an angel’s harp
Warning without doubt our great savior’s heart
So goodbye with a prayer my good friend
Rest knowing what you’ve done will never end
Give a thanks to all those that went before you
And know that all those that love you remain true

This is my feeble attempt to try to give praise to a great Father,
Husband, Friend and Man. An attempt to give a belated thanks
to a man that has given not only me but countless fans most of
the best years of his life. He did what he did because he loved it.
And a person can only ask for that out of life I suppose. Given the
chance to give freely to people, and acting on the chance willingly
and lovingly is the sign of a person born to give. And for that I thank
him and say Goodbye with a prayer.
Rest in peace Billy Powell and stroke those golden keys.
