38 Special still going strong
and showing no signs of slowing down. After witnessing them on back to back nights at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville Ct I am thoroughly convinced that they are headed to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame even though the Hall would rather induct one hit wonder groups over groups of Southern Rock like legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd who after 7 or 8 tries finally them tin eared no nothing about great music people did the right thing and put Skynyrd in the Hall. We had no problem standing in line for 6 hours just so we could be up close and personal with a band we love. Heck 6 hours werse nothing, there were people ahead of us that were in line since 9 a.m. for a 6:30 p.m. door opening. Kind of hard to start a review of a band who has 6 perfectly matched musicians that make up a well tuned machine. Gotta start somewhere so its Gary Moffat and his 5 to 7 minute drum solo if not longer. Reminisent of the days of drum solos in the 60's is the best way to describe it, Keith Moon is one p...

Gotta start somewhere so its Gary Moffat and his 5 to 7 minute drum solo if not longer. Reminisent of the days of drum solos in the 60's is the best way to describe it, Keith Moon is one particular name that comes to mind when I see Mo flaunt his stuff. If you are looking for experience in the band look no further than Mr Larry Jungstrum their Bass player who for many years thumped the thick strings for Lynyrd Skynyrd. He is an ICON, a permanent fixture in the music buisness forever. Now come the two PERFECTLY matched bookends of Danny Chauncy and Don Barnes. It is simply amazing to see these accomplished guitarists share the same stage, trading lead and rythym guitar like they practiced for 20 years for this show. Not once did one overstep the other or miss a chord. Bobby Capps, can you find a better man that can fit into this group of Southern Rock and Rollers like he can, I don't think so and when he breaks into his song Second Chance, you can hear hearts breaking in the audience, the girls whining and pining when Mr Capps puts his vocals out on the line. Than theres this crazy guy from Jacksonville Fla, runnin, flying, swingin the microphone, and pumping his fist at ya. You better DUCK or wear a helmet cause ya might get hit with some sort of flying object when he's around. But thats allright because he is a VAN ZANT as in Donnie Van Zant and that name in itself is GOLD. I liken the Van Zant boys as the PT Barnums of the music world introducing to their fans everytime they take the stage, THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH

Eddy and I always seem to meet the nicest people at the skynyrd/38 concerts. We have made long lasting and true friendships. We met with people 38 message board people Arianna, Ray Van Zant, Jack (Post man) We even got a chance to say hello to Tom Soars.
Poor Donnie...The stage was a little to short for his liking and he to kind of shorten his steps. I just love seeing that little guy fly. I am just waiting to see if he drops his mic. I've never seen it happen (probably becuse he has a magnet attached to his hand)
